Trip to Indy

This past Friday I got the opportunity to give a presentation in Indianapolis for the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH). This is a national conference that draws museum professionals from around the country once a year. I was asked to present along side Erik Holland (Fort Buford State Historic Site), Wendy Singer (Mill City Museum), Lois Miklas (The Hershey Story) and Aili McGill (Conner Prairie) on how to connect our visitors to the origins and importance of food. The presentation went great and the crowd was very engaged. One of the things that really surprised me was while walking around the conference people would look at my name tag and say, "I have heard of Wagner Farm". That was amazing.

While in Indy Sarah and I also got to tour Conner Prairie and see their newest attraction, a replica of a hot air balloon that sailed out of Lafayette, Indiana in 1859. The gondola can carry about 25 people and went up to 300 feet. It was an interesting way to involve history and fundraising.
