The Farm had a great weekend that was full of activity.
On Friday Kristen, Tamara, Sarah and I jumped into the first historic dinner of the year. We cooked the traditional German meal of roulanden with mushroom gravy, curry wurst, spaetzle and sauerkraut. Sarah also made her famous German apple cake with fresh whipped cream.
On Saturday morning we had the last day of the Glenview Farmers Market. When they say "time flies" they are right. This year the market ran for 16 weeks and we had 21,679 shoppers making the 2009 season our best yet attendance wise. I also think it was our best program wise since the market was able to have a community booth, green table and chefs table almost every week. The farmers and vendors continually brought diverse and high quality products to the market. To close out the season we always have a year-end pot luck dinner. It was the definition of farm fresh and very tasty.
In the afternoon a large crowd came to the farm for "Build your own Scarecrow" program. We supplied the straw and the pumpkins and they brought the clothes. It was a great family outing.
On Sunday we had a stand out day of fall sale and the farm was featured on the Channel 7 program 190 North.
