Approaching Autumn in the Community Garden

by Jen

With the recent 90 degree weather, it doesn't feel like fall, but I see signs of it in the community garden. Pumpkins growing larger (right next to a lovely flowering okra), beans putting on a purple show, and Brussels sprouts getting their height. With cooler nights and shorter days, plant growth begins to slow down, but it's certainly not over. In fact, Brussels sprouts taste sweeter if picked after a frost!
