Egg drop

One of the great things about doing programs here at Wagner is the flexibility Sarah gives us to modify our curriculum to meet the needs and learning styles of our students.  Today I thought that some very energetic students might enjoy petting a chicken while we learned about them.  I grabbed a hen and the kids gathered around.  I was only standing in front of the kids holding her for a minute when she laid an egg right in front of them!   It plopped down to the grass at their feet and didn't even break.  The kids picked up the egg and carefully passed it around, marveling at its warmth and the bumpiness of the shell.   Unfortunately since hens only lay once a day, I wasn't able to comply when they begged her to 'do it again'!
